A Brand Refresh For A Historic Landmark

The historic Hotel Frederick blends the warmth of a bed and breakfast with the sophistication of a boutique luxury hotel.

When long-time General Manager Holly and her husband Zach became new owners and approached our team about a brand refresh, we jumped with joy.

Hotel Frederick is a noted local and state historical landmark. It’s the best example of Romanesque Revival architecture in its region and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. As new owners, Holly & Zach knew they needed a refreshed brand identity that would captivate guests and a brand experience that would leave them coming back for more.

Before we got started on our brand development process, our set of challenges were clear:

  1. We needed to identify the unique brand feeling that was already at the heart of Hotel Frederick, so we could design a brand personality that resonated with guests

  2. We needed to carry that brand personality through each brand touch point, to create a brand experience where guests were reminded of that feeling at every turn.

Guests of this lovingly renovated landmark experience bold, eclectic interiors and well-preserved charms. With 30 guest rooms each unique from the next, the interiors accented carefully selected regional antiques with modern amenities. It was important that the brand’s personality followed suit with the juxtaposition of historical yet current.
