Creating an Organic Campaign That Moves People to Donate

CoMoGives is an annual online fundraiser that impacts over 170 charities and organizations in Central Missouri.

Making an impact

CoMoGives stands as a beacon of generosity in the heart of Missouri. They are passionate about bringing people together and spreading hope. Participating organizations rely on donations from this campaign to continue their much-needed services in the community. And after 12 years of running this annual campaign, CoMoGives has never let them down.

When CoMoGives approached us, they needed an impactful campaign and sought something new and fresh. Not only did they have a lofty goal of raising $2 million dollars, but they also wanted to reach a younger audience of new donors while not forgetting about their loyal supporters. They wanted to share the message that giving through the CoMoGives campaign is fun and easy. They wanted to do all of this, with a 100% organic effort. There were no funds allocated for media spend.

The message was clear to us: Not only are we asking people to donate -- we’re asking them to share the joy of giving.

One obstacle staring us in the face, was the fact that donations were down 10% in the US.. We needed an engaging campaign involving the participation of over 170 different organizations - and a call to action to move a community. 

It was time to get to work.

What Moves You?

Recognizing the importance of connecting with the next generation and instilling the idea that giving is not only impactful but also enjoyable, we embarked on a brand evolution journey with CoMoGives.

Key aspects of the brand evolution included a vibrant visual rebranding, an interactive digital presence, and the introduction of a creative and engaging campaign.

The 2023 CoMoGives campaign aimed to create a unified wave of generosity. And thus the Dip. Dance. Give. Dance-a-thon was born. By combining the joy of dance with the spirit of giving, this community-wide dance-a-thon would grab attention from new and long-standing donors. For the duration of the campaign, we challenged participants to grab a friend, make up a dance, and share what organization moved them to give.

The campaign extended into a robust social media strategy to capture their audience's attention and keep the momentum throughout the campaign. Our team worked with the organization on an email drip campaign that further communicated information to donors, highlighted organizations, shared success stories and of course the ever-popular leaderboard.

People danced. Posts were shared. Donations were sent.

When togetherness wins

In a testament to the resilience and compassion of our community, the annual fundraiser surpassed all expectations as the community came together with a shared purpose. Their response showcased an unwavering commitment to helping one another, emphasizing the profound understanding of what is truly important.

The campaign's success wasn't just measured in dollars raised; it was a triumph of shared values, kindness, and a collective understanding of the importance of community support. Beyond the financial achievements, there was an abundance of love and hope that permeated every aspect of the fundraiser, leaving a lasting impact on the fabric of our community.

Most notably, the donation goal was surpassed. In just 34 days over $2 million was raised. One Community. One goal.
