Every year, roughly 350 of the most senior women in multifamily real estate investment gather for the WAM, or Women Asset Managers, national summit. Decision-makers from firms like Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan make their way to Texas to the kind of room where multimillion-dollar deals could get made over coffee. For more than a decade, the event's brand had been treated the way most internal conferences are: a new tagline dropped onto the same corporate template every year. It worked well enough. It just never felt like anything of its own.
Greystar came to us wanting to change that, giving us permission to build something entirely standalone, untethered from the parent company's brand guidelines, and made specifically for the women walking through that ballroom door.
What We Discovered
The women in that room aren't looking for permission. They already have it. The same duality surfaced again and again in discovery: these are women who've built careers on precision and composure. The suit fits, the calendar runs, and the room already knows who they are when they walk in. But underneath that polish is a woman who isn't finished, still reaching for the next deal, the next chapter, the next version of herself.
Most brand efforts around events like this stop at admiring the polish. We decided to build the identity to hold what's underneath it instead.
The Challenge
When we started, the event was still being described in loose, working terms as a "retreat conference" with a rough theme in mind. Our first job, what we call discovery, is asking enough questions to find the real idea sitting underneath that vagueness before any of it gets visualized. Then we had to carry that idea through every physical inch of a three-day, in-person event.
Our challenge was creating a brand that could hold its own on an 80-foot LED screen and in a printed program flipped through at breakfast, without ever feeling like two different projects.
Our Approach
Greystar came to us for event branding specifically, and they already had a vision board of their own to inspire us. So we scaled the process to fit: define the tension point first, then build the voice traits and visuals around that guide.
"Tailored Spirit" became our aesthetic throughline: refined on the outside, unfinished on the inside. From there came the voice traits — Ambitious, Intentional, Alive. Each one functioned as an instruction. Every line of copy had to credit what she's already built before inviting her forward, the way her best mentor would speak to her.
The name came out of that same process, independent of the vision board. "Unbridled" is a horse with the bridle removed, a specific image carrying its own before-and-after. That gave us a narrative engine sturdy enough to run a whole agenda on, session by session.
The Work
We built the full identity from the ground up — a logo system with primary and compact marks, a color palette pulled from tailored pinstripes and heritage textiles, a photography direction built on candid, documentary-style warmth. Then we ran that identity all the way through the live event: an opening video built around hero footage of horses running straight at the audience on an 80-foot screen and copy built for each specific touchpoint onward.
Even the smallest decisions got the same scrutiny. A line, "The polish has never been the point. The ambition is," deliberately breaks tense mid-sentence, past to present, because that shift is the point being made.
The Impact
WAM 2026 ran October 19–21 in Frisco, Texas, and the brand held together across every touchpoint it was built for: the stage, the screens, the program, and more. For the first time in the event's history, WAM had a brand built specifically for the women who filled the room.
