Now back to our three new Squarespace SEO hacks:
1. Submit your site to Google for indexing frequently
Contrary to popular belief, Google's search bots are not some instantaneous, magic creatures that capture and record all new content on the Internet as soon as it's created. Give yourself a leg up on your SEO game by submitting your site for indexing with any updates you make.
Here's how:
Open up Webmaster Tools (make sure you're logged in), select your site, and click Crawl in the left-hand navigation to see an expanded selection menu. Choose Fetch as Google, and enter the URLs of pages you've updated recently (for example: hootdesignco.com/blog). Choose Fetch and Render. Note: You can do this as different types of devices to make sure Google grabs your content as a smartphone or tablet too!
Next, when your status has changed from Pending to at least Partial, go ahead and choose Submit to Index.
Finally, make sure Google knows you're not a robot and choose whether you'd like to crawl only this URL (500 submissions/month allowed) or crawl this URL and its direct links (10 submissions/month allowed). Hit Go and you're golden!
We suggest re-submitting your main page and all links for indexing once or twice a month, and your blog section about once a week. Additionally, we suggest submitting a direct link to a new page anytime you create one!
2. Titles and keyword-rich descriptions on all pages, even hidden and protected ones
We love utilizing Squarespace's "not linked" pages for content we only want people with a direct link to be able to see, and we use password protected pages for our client home bases, among other things.
It's easy to forget that though a person looking at your site on the surface wouldn't be able to tell that there are any unlinked pages, Google can crawl all.
If you have any hidden or protected pages, give them keyword rich titles and descriptions and submit them for indexing! Filling these pages up with relevant descriptions means you're putting all your pages to work for you. Waste not, want not!
3. Keyword- and link-rich focus paragraphs at the end of each post
This one's truly a trick you're likely overlooking: Every time you publish a new blog post, you have the opportunity to build internal links and insert lots of keywords at the same time. How? Write a focus paragraph that's unique to your business describing who you are, what you do, where you're from (and any other key facts you need!). Copy and paste into the end of every blog post as a handy footer.

Links that you add yourself are only half the battle, though. The best thing for your SEO is a backlink from another site. This helps Google rank your site as more popular. Services like LinkOkay can help you maintain and check in on your backlinks.
In addition to building internal site links and giving your site a little keyword boost, this handy tactic also allows a reader to get a little more info on you no matter where they're coming from. Additionally, linking to your services and pricing is great for building business interest, of course.
These three SEO tips for Squarespace are simple, painless, and easy-breezy. Once you get into the habit of keeping up with these easy SEO helpers on your Squarespace site, they'll be complete no-brainers and you'll be able to maintain your ranking without even thinking twice about it.
