Where we started

Hoot Design Co. opened as an Etsy shop that created custom wedding invitations.
Name
Our owner, Kristen, landed on Hoot Design Co. because it was easy to say and easy to remember.
Look & feel
Our original logo featured an owl and blue script. Hoot’s funny and outspoken voice was Kristen’s because she was a one-woman show.
Where we went
Offerings
In 2015, Hoot Design Co. transitioned from wedding invitations to marketing services. We identified as a full-service marketing agency because we designed brands, built websites, and managed social media accounts. Our clients began as solo-preneurs that connected with Hoot’s history, but we grew into local businesses and regional brands over the years.
Name
We held onto ‘Hoot Design Co.’ because we didn’t want to lose the brand equity we had built. And design was still at the center of what we offered.
Look & feel
We were leveling up our business, so we leveled up our brand. We lost the script font, the owl, and the baby blue, opting for a more professional monochromatic logo. We changed our tone too, slowly shifting away from Kristen’s voice to make room for Hoot’s growing team to be heard.
Where we are today
Offerings
Today, we exclusively offer brand-related services. The ‘full-service marketing agency’ identity failed to identify what we do best: brand. And our clients are evolving with us: We’re working with national brands instead of small businesses, and our client list spans the U.S.
Name
After 10 years of building recognition, it’s hard to completely scratch a business name. So instead of adopting a new identity all together, our name is evolving with our brand, and we’re trading the ‘co.’ for ‘company.’ So please, call us Hoot Design Company.
Look & feel
You’ll still see pops of red here and there, but we’re leaning more into a minimalistic black-and-white visual identity. You’ll notice that we sound different too. We’re polishing up our content to match the sophisticated audiences we’re working with.
